Own A Colour and Help Save a Child's Life

This is a unique effort by a small group of individuals passionate  in their belief that small acts can combine collectively to save the lives of many children, one child at a time.

Your average computer, smartphone and tablet can display 16.7 million colours.

That's a lot of colours!

This website, wants to  NAME each and every colour for at least Pound 1,to raise money for the children's Charity UNICEF.

All the money raised will go directly to help transform Children's lives, so go ahead and pick a COLOUR for yourself, NAME it, and also tell the Website what  this color means to you.

I Just named one for myself.  My colour is a warm shade of RED, which is the colour  for 2012.

I Named it RADIANT 2 and its code is HEX  #ca4a5b.

DULUX is a partner of this Campaign.

It may be a small contribution of Pound 1, but its a terrific way to help the Cause.

Apni Dilli

Republic Day Parade in N Delhi

After having spent five years in Chandigarh pursuing my Masters, i felt  the need to spread my wings. At 21, Delhi beckoned to me.  It was a strange pull that made me  give up the option of doing Reasearch and pack my bags and shift to Delhi.  Soon after,  i got married and we lived in Delhi for the first two years of my married life in South Delhi.

During those two years i wanted to take in all that  Delhi had to offer. So from eating Chinese from parked  vans to dining at House of Ming and Haveli, Ice cream sessions at India Gate post dinner, attending the Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, visit to the Zoo, attending the Crafts Fair in Modern School, Barakhamba road, rides at Appu Ghar, visiting  The State Emporia at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Walking at Janpath,   the book Exhibitions at AIFACS, exploring Books at Teksons, Crossword and Sehgal Brothers in South Extension, eating at Karims in Nizamuddin West, Eating at Nirulas and more ... we did it all.

And then came the Life changing decision when we shifted to Faridabad.  in  1988.  Faridabad was almost a ghost town, though slated to be the Industrial hub of Haryana. I would miss the Delhi life sorely  and make frequent trips to be happy.

Decades later when my daughters grew up, i decided that they needed to discover Delhi. So, during the Commonwealth Games i took my daughters for a wonderful trip around Delhi via the HOHO bus. Today, Faridabad has emerged as a great town, now being  easily connected to Dilli  via Metro.

On 12 th December, 2011,   Dilli turned  100! And understandably Dilli  was trending on Twitter.

Today, life has become so much more complex than it was  during my times.  Growing up in 70s was not so much of a challenge as it is today.  

Today we have new age Gurus who give gyaan on living a meaningful, happy and fulfilled life. They talk about 'Not quitting' even if Life throws challenges. And here is a poem from our school text book of Hindi, which many will surely  recollect.

I feel, this poem is as relevant and inspiring today as it was when i was at school.  It just shows that, human values and issues  remain pretty much the same through the ages....Veer tum badhe chalo, dheer tum badhe chalo.  Read on....
