An Open Letter to Lataji

I believe each sunrise, each day is a promise for all of us to start afresh with renewed vigor.

Today as i picked up the Hindustan Times paper, the front page had a picture of Indian  Prime Minister Manmohan Singh shaking hands with the Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari in Iran. The headline said:

'India agrees to let Pakistan question 26/11 witnesses'.

Just a few days back i was tagged by my fellow blogger, Rickie Khosla.  In that i was asked , 'Changes would you bring about if you were the president of Pakistan, in order to improve relations between the two neighboring countries'.

I had expressed my views in the post : 2012 : Celebrating 65 years of KESARIA.

India and Pakistan share common history of freedom struggle. There was a lot of blood shed and suffering, the echoes of which can be felt even today.  For the past 65 years we have been at war, despite efforts of the Cricketing world and other activities to bring in harmony. But the agreement in Tehran brings in Hope.

To add fuel to this Hope i am writing this open letter to you Lataji.

Today we don't have Mahatam Gandhi, Pandit Jawarlal Nehru and other freedom fighters a midst us. But we are fortunate enough to have you hale and hearty .

So, i am making an appeal to you.

An appeal for an exclusive  Musical Concert of yours at India Gate Lawns - under the stars.  We invite the Pakistan Prime Minister and other delegates along with children, youth, artists and activists along with the common man.  The Concert culminates with your most loved song of your career:

Ae mere  watan ke logon...... zara aankh main bahr lo paani......

Let us first show the world that we can be at peace with our neighbors and then talk about World Peace.

Kya aapko ye arzi manzoor hai Lataji?

Aabha, an Indian
