One LAST Time

The King of Roamnce, the ace director , the late Yash Chopra announced that the unnamed  movie he was working on in 2012, would be his last.  And destiny made sure it was to be so, even if he changed his minf.  For he passed away three weeks before the film's Diwali release on November 13.

I have just downloaded the son CHALLA,

and its magic is working  wonders, just as long  long ago Rabbi stormed the music  world with his  chart busting songs, Bulla and Tere Bin.

What happens when you have an ace and seasoned Romantic director, with  legendary stalwarts like A R Rehman, Gulzar, the Badshah  SRK, the most desirable woman on the planet , Katrina Kaif and a talented  actor Anushka Sharma. Wait.... there is another interesting fact.  Director Aditya Chopra  debuting as a poet:

Teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiyan
Teri hansi ki beparwaah gustakhiyaan
Teri zulfon ki leharaati angdaiyaan
Nahi bhoolunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan

Tera haath se haath chhodna

Tera saayon se rukh modna
Tera palat ke phir na dekhna
Nahin maaf karunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan

Baarishon mein bedhadak tere naachne se

Baat baat pe bewajah tere roothne se
Chhoti chhoti teri bachkani badmashiyon se
Mohabbat karunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan..

Tere jhoothe kasme vaadon se

Tere jalte sulagte khwabon se
Teri be-raham duaaon se
Nafrat karunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan

— by Aditya Chopra

So needles to say you get a Blockbuster.  A romance, Yash Chopra Style, ONE LAST TIME, in the form of:

JAB  Tak Hai JAAN.

Some interesting facts, courtesy Wikipedia ( WHAT we would do without Wiki :))  )

Lyricsmint.com had to say this.......

Finally Yashraj's untitled project gets a name and it is Jab Tak Hai Jaan. In meantime we have heard many names like London Ishq, Yaara Silli Silli, Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum, Jai etc. But the now the suspense is over and name is finalized. Yashraj Films revealed the name of the name in today's (11th September) newspapers, they revealed the name and released a poem with it.

Wiki says:

The film was shot under the working title of Production 45

The romantic scenes of the film were directed by Chopra's son Aditya Chopra to give the romance a more contemporary feel.

In June 2011, Yash Raj Films released a statement announcing a new directorial venture by Yash Chopra which would coincide with the 50th anniversary of his career in Bollywood. The producers also announced that the film would release on the Diwali 2012 weekend.According to Chopra, the film was planned in early 2009 but he did not want Khan to work on any film other than his simultaneously.

In an interview with The Telegraph he said, "My film is an emotional film. It is not comedy, action, escapism...This is what we call an internal film. There are only three characters [and] their emotions, happiness, sadness."
A teaser trailer was released along with the theatrical release of Ek Tha Tiger as well as through the firm's official YouTube channel on 15 August 2012.The 1:30 minute clip showed glimpses of Yash Chopra's successful yet acclaimed directorial ventures and then highlighted his upcoming film. The trailer incorporated the prelude of the song Challa as the background music. Yet again, the film remained untitled as "Yash Chopra Romance." The teaser crossed over one million views in less than three days.
The main theatrical trailer of nearly 2:30 minutes featuring the film's title was released on 20 September 2012 through Yash Raj Films' official YouTube channel.[35] It received a million views on the first day and 30,000 likes within a week, surpassing the record held by The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, making it the first film trailer in the world to achieve this number in that span of time.

Some critical reviews:

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the film 4 out of 5 stars and stated it was "attention-grabbing from inception till conclusion. The drama only soars higher and the complex love story gets more and more gripping as the conflict between the characters come to the fore."

Rachit Gupta of Filmfare gave it 4 out of 5 stars and wrote, "At a gracious 3 hours runtime, JTHJ feels like an epic love story. And it is just that. JTHJ is the perfect adieu to a hallmark career. It is the best romantic film made in this generation.

Mark Olsen of the Los Angeles Times gave the film 4 out of 5 stars and wrote, "The film has a freshness that would never lead one to think it was directed by an 80-year-old while at the same time it has a sureness of tone, a certainty about itself even at its most audacious, that comes from the hand of a seasoned master." He remarked, ""Jab Tak Hai Jaan" serves as a fitting tribute to the career of Chopra.

Lisa Tsering of The Hollywood Reporter wrote, "Director-producer Yash Chopra's film -- his final project before he died -- delivers not only the romance and human touch, but also reflects a modern sensibility

At almost 3 hours it is a considerably long movie but three things hold u captive: the locales, soulful music and the drama unfolded by the three lead actors.

In my posts i have mentioned that i am a big fan of Aishwarya Rai, but with this movie Katr4ina has floored me.  Just as Aishwarya's run down the wooden staircase  to meet her Devdas, was an aha cinematic moment, Katrina clad in a peach lehnga  gliding across the snow to meet not her beloved,  but Sir Jesus. And  to me they are at par with each other.

if you love cinema, and if you love Yash Chopra style romance

, go see  JTHJ,  for this is happening One LAST time :)

And for me, there is just one thing left to do, rush and buy  a CD of the movie :)
