4th Blogversary post: ENVIRONMENT

Today is the FOURTH Anniversary of my Blog Daffodils.

It has been a marvelous journey of discovery taking me to places and people i would have never met otherwise. I look forward to continue to Blog regularly.

Today my focus is the Environment. here i share some FUN Facts about Environment with the intent to create awareness about how crucial it is for man to halt, reflect and take positive strides to protect the damage done to Mother Earth.

Worldwide some 300-500 million tons of hazardous waste are produced each year, with
industrialized countries responsible for 80-90 percent.

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours - or the equivalent of a half gallon of gasoline.

In Peninsular Malaysia, more tree species are found in 125 acres of Tropical Forest than in the entire North America

The planet adds 77 million people each year, the equivalent of 10 New York Cities.

The energy saved from recycling one glass bottle can run a 100-watt light bulb for four hours. It also causes 20% less air pollution and 50% less water pollution than when a new bottle is made from raw materials. 

If every car carried one more passenger during its daily commute, 32 million gallons of
gasoline would be saved each day

If all of America's newspaper was recycled, we would save about 250,000,000 trees each year.

Recycling creates 6 times as many jobs as landfilling.

It is estimated that 50,000 species living in tropical rainforests become extinct each year. That is 137 species per day or 6 species per hour.

Due to human impacts, the world loses 7% of its topsoil every ten years. It takes 1,000 years
to produce one inch of topsoil.
